Requirment of Biometric Inforamtion
As per the recent guidelines with effect from 12th December 2007 requirement of biometrics information of any person wish to apply for UK has been introduced in India. In this system it has become compulsory for the applicant to visit Visa Application Centre, operated by VFS to scans your finger and a digital photograph. This process is very simple and takes not more than 5 minutes. You are not required to pay any additional charge for the Biometric information. Your visa application will not be processed until you have given necessary biometric information. It is required that the Biometrics information is given for making each application for the UK visa.
Qualifications Offered By UK Colleges and Universities
First Degree Courses in Arts and Sciences (Bachelor's degree) - normally three or four years' duration.
Sandwich Courses - coursework is accompanied by practical work. This is either for 2 years of college education and one of commercial Training, or for 4 years course with 3 to 6 months training for each year
Higher National Diploma (HND) - awarded by Vocational and Technical Educational Councils. This is normally 2-years course in a vocational subjects. This is first step towards a degree course as the credits can be transferred.
Vocational Courses gives an opportunity to enter the university system slowly. Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), General Vocational Qualifications (GNVQ), General Scottish Vocational Qualifications (GSVQ) offer recognized courses in a range of disciplines.
Basic Requirements

You are required to fulfill basic requirement before you can be granted Study Visa to UK.

You must have an intention to study at a publicly funded University, College or a bonafide private institution or a fee-paying independent school.

You must be able to and have an intention to study full time degree course, or a weekday, full time course at a single institution involved at least 15 hours of day time stay per week.

You must be able to pay for your tuition fees for the course you intend to pursue and living expenses of yourself and your dependents accompanied to you in UK without going into business or getting a job, or claiming public funds.

You must not have an intention to work in UK except you are accepted for a course longer than six months. In such case you may work for part-time or during vacations.

You must have an intention to leave UK at the end of your studies.
If you do not need an entry clearance as a student visitor, you will have to satisfy the Immigration Officer that you qualify for entry to study when you arrive in the UK. You must be able to show that you have been accepted on a course of study at an educational establishment that is on the Register of Education and Training Providers. They will then give you permission to stay in the UK for up to six months. You will not be allowed to extend your stay in the UK as a student unless you arrived with a student visa or prospective student visa.

Who Needs Visa to UK
A visa is a certificate that is put into your passport or travel document by an Entry Clearance Officer at a British mission overseas. The visa gives you permission to enter the UK.

Accompaning Family Memebrs
Your spouse or dependent children under 18 years of age can come to UK with you during your studies. Your husband, wife or civil partner will be allowed to work in the UK if authority gives you permission to stay in the country for at least twelve months
You are required to show the following for getting visa for your dependent family members.

- Evidence of their relationship to you.

Work While Study
If you are on student visa to UK for a course lasting for more than 6 months you may without work permit or permission from the local job centre, take part time or holiday- work. However you can not work full time in a permanent job. However you can work up to 20 hours per week during your education term is current. You can work more hours provided your work is part of your studies. You also may not do business, be self-employer or provide services as professional sportsperson or entertainer.
Extension of Study Visa
If you have come to UK on valid student visa you can extend your stay for the same. However, you are required make an application for a residence permit at the Border and Immigration agency. You can stay only if your application for extension of stay is approved.
